Day 36 – Pilates on floorboards at quarter to midnight.

Day 36 – today I flew to Sydney for a course on pain management. As an added bonus I am staying with my old housemates and can’t wait to catch up with friends and family.

Unfortunately my new super duper mat is also quite large and heavy and there was no chance of it fitting in my suitcase. A few of the girls I would be staying with do Pilates and/or yoga so I assumed they would have a mat and didn’t both packing my old smaller one.

Mistake number one. There was no mat. I had also forgotten that the whole house is floorboards, no carpet.

Mistake number two. Not factoring in that I had organised to spend every spare second while I was in Sydney catching up with a friend or family member.

Result – today was the closest I have come to not meeting my daily Pilates challenge. At 11.45pm, still hanging out with friends I had not seen in a long time, I suddenly realised I had to do Pilates now, right now. In my panic I didn’t think to get a towel but instead just did my own 15 minute mat Pilates session directly on the floorboards. No rolling like a ball tonight!

I survived the hard floor and my friends’ strange looks, and resolved to plan out my daily Pilates for the coming week.
