Day 35 – mat pilates in my lounge room

Day 35 – today was a busy day of teaching Pilates in the morning followed by a wine tour of the Swan Valley for a friends birthday in the afternoon. I find these type of days, where I’m busy but spend a few hours teaching Pilates, some of the harder days to remember to do my own session. Because I have spent a significant amount of time teaching and therefore thinking about Pilates, part of brain seems to register that I have already had my Pilates quota for the day. But as we all know teaching and doing are two very different things.
There’s a joke in Australia that “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach. Those who can’t teach, teach P.E” I would contend that in the Pilates world it goes something along the lines of “Those who love to do Pilates, teach. And then forget to do.” Ofcourse this isn’t true of everyone but I think a significant majority end up prioritizing their clients over themselves and not making enough time for their own workouts. Which is one of the reasons that spurred on this Pilates challenge of mine.

And so tonight I found myself in my living room at 7pm, without having started packing for my trip to Sydney tomorrow, or having done any Pilates. So I rolled out the mat and did my own 20 minute session while dinner was in the oven. As I’ve said before, perhaps it wasn’t the best session I could have done, but it sure beats doing nothing.
