Day 19 – chair workout with Amy Havens on Pilates Anytime

Day 19 – It’s been almost 3 weeks and I`m still going strong with my daily Pilates practice. What I’m finding harder however, is finding time to write everything up on this blog! I’ve been running a day late for the past week but I’m determined to still try and give each day its own post.

Today’s session was a 30 minute wunda chair class taught by Amy Havens and watched on my mobile via Pilates Anytime. To see the class click here.

After my reflections on Michael King’s spine corrector class, I decided I would try focusing on not watching the class as much as just listening to the cues. For some exercises I could do this fully and be confident I was performing the correct exercise and with decent technique just by listening to Amy’s cues. With other exercises this was harder. In particular the ones I was more familiar with and/or knew by the same name as Amy were far easier to perform with audio only. Whereas exercises I knew less well, or perhaps knew them by a different name, I found myself reaching for my iphone to have a look. Amy obviously had a great cueing style for me to be able to attempt this at all and I think it would be an interesting exercise as an instructor to record yourself teaching and then get someone to try your class just by listening to the audio.
