Day One – Rhythm Pilates mat class with Lisa Hubbard

Well they say the best way to get something done is to start and today was the start of my year long Pilates resolution.

Being new years day and a Sunday ofcourse all Pilates studios are closed so I decided to take a Pilates Anytime online class. Being the first day I thought I would try something a little bit different and opted for a Lisa Hubbard Rhythm Pilates mat class. To see the class you can click here but you need to be a Pilates Anytime subscriber to actually watch the class.

The class was 30 minutes and level 2 (intermediate). The class is choreographed to music and the pace is much quicker than your standard Pilates mat class.

I really enjoyed exercising to the music and found it gave a great sense of timing and ofcourse rhythm. I found it a little hard to keep up at times and only realised afterwards that there is another ‘breakdown’ class that goes through the exercises slower that would have been ideal to do first. I will definitely be giving Rhythm Pilates another go and in fact I think I would enjoy doing the same class over to get a better feel for the choreography.

Hi Laura. I just saw your comments on Peta’s page and realised I used to do gymnastics with you years ago at Lakeside. I’m an EP and I have just finished my Polestar mat course. I am completing my hours at the moment. It will be great to see your journey with Pilates this year. Good luck!!

    • Laura says:

Hi Sarah, yes I remember you from Lakeside, nice to hear from you! Are you still living in Newcastle or sydney now? Great to hear you`ve just done Polestar, I absolutely love the guys over there at Powernouse, I miss them now I`m in Perth! Did you do your course with an EP Kate Faber? I worked with her when I was living in Syd.
Thanks for the comment, hope you`re well 🙂

Oh I just saw that you replied. I went to uni in Wollongong so I didn’t do my EP course with Kate, but we did meet at the Polestar mat course and are friends now. She’s tops!
I went back to Newcastle after uni for 3 years , then to Canada and America for a year, and now I’m in Melbourne! I reckon I’ll make it back to Newcastle in the next year or so.
I loved the Polestar course at Powernouse. I aggree, they are great.
Well done on the project so far!
